Production designer Gemma Jackson used some of the same icons from the big gates of Qarth on Xaro’s vault. The production placed shells all over the floor to give the audience the impression that the sea is moving in.ģ. The Great Hall of Pyke in the Iron Islands was designed to feel damp and mildewy. The timber used to build the log structure of Craster’s Keep came from the area in order to be more sustainable and to look like it was created from its own environment.Ģ. Overall: Though not a standout by any means, this is still a high-quality episode for a fantastic show so far. Salladhor feels like a caricature of a Game of Thrones character, like someone you would see on an inferior show or even an SNL skit. Too much screentime is on Sam, who has never been an interesting character to this point. What I Disliked: There are some noticeably uninteresting portions throughout this episode, especially the scenes beyond the wall. As with most episodes up to this point, this one ends with an enthralling cliffhanger, leaving the viewer wanting more as soon as the credits roll.

What I Liked: As usual, it is impossible not to be impressed by the high-quality production value, as well as the meticulous attention to detail. Davos enlists Salladhor Saan, a pirate, to join forces with Stannis and Melisandre for a naval invasion of King's Landing. After nine years as a Stark ward, Theon Greyjoy reunites with his father Balon, who wants to restore the ancient Kingdom of the Iron Islands. In the wake of a bloody purge in the capital, Tyrion chastens Cersei for alienating the king's subjects. Tyrion Lannister: His name is Bronn, and he is the new commander of the City Watch. Janos Slynt: I command you to arrest this cutthroat! Janos Slynt: These men are under my command! The streets aren't safe at night, my Lord. in a brutal, horribly uncomfortable sort of way.īronn: The lads will escort you. From there, I'm afraid it's rather long walk to Castle Black. Tyrion Lannister: There's a ship leaving for Eastwatch-by-the-Sea tonight. Janos Slynt: We shall hear what Joffrey has to say about this! And you are a fool to believe she is your friend. my friends at the court will not allow this! The queen herself. And seeing as you betrayed the last Hand of the King, well, I just wouldn't feel safe with you lurking about. Tyrion Lannister: I intend to serve as Hand of the King until my father returns from the war. And yes, you will stand here and take it from me, unless you like to take it from my friend here. Tyrion Lannister: "Dwarf"? You should have stopped at "imp". Janos Slynt: If you think I'll stand here and take this from you, dwarf. Tyrion Lannister: I'm not questioning your honor, Lord Janos. Janos Slynt: Are you drunk? I won't have my honor questioned by an imp! Tyrion Lannister: Tell me, when your men slaughtered Ned Stark's men at the throne room, did you give the orders?
